Welcome Ravinder Gill to the Birmingham Irish Assoc team

Birmingham Irish • August 15, 2025

Today we are delighted to introduce our newest staff member to you all.

"My name is Ravinder Gill, and I am the Activities and & Wellbeing Worker for Birmingham Irish Association. I was born in Cork to Indian parents who had moved to Cork from India. I love to help out when I can with the Irish community and was already volunteering in the passport office at BIA before applying for this job as well as being part of the rambler’s group. I have also shared my story on being an Irish woman and was mentioned in the Irish post for having my story told.

“I chose to work at BIA because of my own connection with Ireland and building on that connection as well as providing a service to the Irish community. I was asked by the service users to apply for the job as they already knew me and I was delighted to be accepted and be a part of the BIA family.

“They are all lovely and very friendly and everyone has been very supportive.

I am really enjoying my role because I get to be involved in many different activities and different areas that all benefit from an activity to boost their confidence and help their wellbeing.

“I am looking forward to connecting with more Irish organisations and the community within my role and being involved in as much activities as I can to be able to support the Irish community.”

Fun fact: ‘I love to help out disability tennis tournaments and recently helped out at the Blind and Visually Impaired Tennis games in Wimbledon and in Dublin.’
