John Mulry completes the run for our minibus appeal

Birmingham Irish • August 15, 2025

Our minibus driver, John, has been part of the Birmingham Irish Association family since January 2025.

John’s role is to pick up the service users of the Dementia Centres and take them to their selected centre. John is a huge personality and always makes sure to entertain the service users during the drive to the centre. Once arriving to the centre John gets involved and helps out with the activities.

John is a great asset to our team he puts a smile on everyone’s face each day. 😊

Unfortunately, our minibus has been in the garage and requires quite a lot a work which has left John with no bus and he has been unable to pick anyone up.

This is when John decided to run the Solihull Half Marathon with the aim of any sponsorship helping towards the cost of the repairs and the ongoing maintenance of the bus. By doing so, we can continue to provide our much loved and needed service to those living with Dementia within our community.

BIA Health Day January 2025

Congratulations to John who completed the Half Marathon on Sunday 10th August in 2:08 hours.

John has managed to raise a massive £3,166.00 and counting on the Givey fundraiser page.

We have also received cash donations which will be added to the total amount very soon.

BIA Health Day January 2025

One of the many generous cash donations came through from our lovely friend Marie who works at TSB bank in Marston Green.

Marie organised a raffle, money board and a cake sale at TSB Bank with the help of Sara Mills and Tara Tustin.

The team managed to raise a massive £700.00 towards John's run which was presented to John on the day. This is such an incredible effort from Marie and the team at TSB Bank, and everyone at BIA would like to say a massive thank you to you all. 💚

The generosity of our community towards this fundraiser has been amazing and we are hugely thankful to everyone who has donated and supported John and our minibus.

There is still time to donate to this fundraiser, any donations would be most welcome (click here)

Once again, a massive THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS go to our amazing John Mulry.
