Volunteers Week 2025

Birmingham Irish • June 24, 2025

Volunteers Week took place between – 2nd to 8th June 2025.

Volunteers Week 2025 - Dementia Volunteers

“The volunteers are truly wonderful and are the unsung heroes of BIA. They give up their free time to support in the centres each week.

They come in with smiles on their faces and make a positive impact on each and every client that attends each day. The centres wouldn’t run as smoothly without their dedication.”

Sharon Toy (Dementia Centre Co – Ordinator)

Volunteers Week 2025 - Front Office Volunteers

“Our volunteers are so important within the front office.  We have become increasing busy within the last 12 months and that doesn’t seem to be slowing.   They are the first point of contact with our clients, having a chat and giving them information, and they never complain about anything asked of them.

They help us in all aspects of daily tasks which helps our day run a lot smoother.  They are always willing to learn new things including completing Passport applications online and their unwavering support amazes us each day.  Volunteers Week is a great recognition of the service they provide. We would be lost without them.”

Catherine Kelly (Front Office Manager)

Volunteers Week 2025 - Silver Surfers Volunteer

“Volunteers' Week is all about our volunteers and the special role they play in the delivery of our services to the community we support. It gives us the chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution of all our volunteers and thank them for continually donating their skills and time. Our amazing team of volunteers share chat, laughter, and show such kindness to our dementia centre service users.

They provide a friendly welcome and true professionalism to those accessing our office looking for information and advice and they freely give their experience and company to those in the community who attend our many activity groups.

I also want to thank the many companies, organisations and individuals who choose to spend their community volunteering days with us throughout the year. Volunteers are our life blood and we would not be able to run our services in the way we do without them. I want all our volunteers to know how much we greatly appreciate them.”

Roisin Mason (Volunteer Co-ordinator)
