Celebrating an Outstanding Volunteer: Peter Lloyd Recognised at the 2026 Irish in Britain Volunteer Awards.

It was a truly memorable day at the 2026 Irish in Britain Volunteer Awards Ceremony, as volunteers from across the country came together to celebrate the extraordinary contribution they make to their communities every day.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our own volunteer, Peter Lloyd, was presented with the Outstanding Individual Volunteer Award. This well-deserved recognition reflects Peter’s unwavering commitment, kindness and generosity, as well as the positive impact he has made on the lives of so many people.

Peter has been a dedicated volunteer with our Silver Surfers Club, where he plays a vital role in supporting our digital inclusion sessions. Week after week, he gives his time to help people develop the confidence and skills they need to use technology in their everyday lives. Whether it’s learning how to use a smartphone, accessing online services, staying in touch with family and friends, or navigating the digital world safely, Peter is always there with patience, encouragement, and a reassuring smile.

His calm and supportive approach has enabled countless participants to overcome their fears of technology and embrace the opportunities that being digitally connected can bring. For many, these sessions are about far more than learning new skills they are about reducing isolation, increasing independence, and building confidence. Peter’s dedication has helped transform lives, making him an invaluable member of our volunteer team.

We are delighted to see his hard work recognised on such a prestigious stage.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Your Irish Shop for their generous donation of a wonderful hamper, which helped make the celebrations even more special.

Their continued support of community initiatives is greatly appreciated and contributed to making the evening one to remember.

Finally, we would like to congratulate all of the winners and runners-up recognised at this year’s awards. The ceremony was a wonderful reminder of the incredible difference volunteers make every single day, often quietly and without expectation of recognition. Their dedication strengthens communities, supports vulnerable people and inspires others to give their time in service of others.

Congratulations once again to Peter on this fantastic achievement. We are immensely proud to have him as part of our organisation and thank him for everything he continues to do for our Silver Surfers Club and the wider community.
