Message from Trustees of Birmingham Irish Association

Birmingham Irish • May 12, 2020

Amidst the outbreak of COVID-19, the Trustees of Birmingham Irish Association wish to express their appreciation to staff, volunteers and to the wider community and our partners.

“It is with a sense of profound pride that I write to commend the efforts of those across our Irish community who are demonstrating daily compassion, commitment and charity, key Irish values.
Acts of quiet selfless generosity with no fanfares or accolades, because this is not their way.

Nevertheless the coming together, the kinship of the community have shone a piercing light in the surrounding gloom.
Our website and social media outlets have never been busier and are helping to keep a "connection" alive and vibrant.

It is no great surprise that these have been at their busiest when sharing desperately sad news of someone's passing. The togetherness and sense of shared loss is truly tangible.

In better times we must and will arrange an appropriate memorial.

We are at our strongest when we are together and our togetherness will sustain us.  Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.”
