Meet our volunteers - Introducing Carmel Holleran

Birmingham Irish • October 25, 2023

Over the next few months, we will be giving you all an insight into our wonderful team of volunteers here at Birmingham Irish Association - without these amazing individuals it would be impossible for staff to provide our daily services.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEER: Carmel Holleran

"Sr Teresa, who ran the Seniors Tuesday Club, was looking for volunteers so I started almost 20 years ago, helping in the kitchen & Dementia Centre. I now help once a week in the front office with day to day duties which saves on other resources too.

“I love being able to help the community which strengthens it. BIA brings people together, promotes growth & self-esteem. I couldn’t love the staff any more than I do. They are exceptional. I now also help run the Seniors Tuesday Club too with the wonderful Terry Nash. A man loved by all!"

'Carmel is a staple of BIA. She has been here longer than some of us and is our wonderful 'Work Mammy' She is great with both staff and clients and is ready to help in any way! We couldn’t be without her' - Catherine Kelly (Front Office Manager)
