Current advice published on travelling to Ireland

Birmingham Irish • May 20, 2020

During the current lockdown situation, we have been asked for advice about travelling to Ireland for a holiday. Therefore, we would like to share the latest guidance with you all, please see below.

You will need to self-isolate for 14 days if you arrive in Ireland from any other country. This includes Irish citizens coming home.

Self-isolation means staying indoors and completely avoiding contact with other people.
You will be asked to fill in a form before you arrive in Ireland called the Public Health Passenger Locator Form. You may be contacted during the 14 days after you arrive in Ireland to check that you are self-isolating.
You do not need to self-isolate if you:
  1. Return to the Republic of Ireland from Northern Ireland.
  2. Are an essential supply chain worker - for example, a pilot, haulier, maritime staff member
  3. Are briefly stopping over at an airport on your way to another country.
Further guidance can be found on the following website:

It is worth noting that the UK government have decided to exempt people traveling from Ireland from similar restrictions which they are bringing in.

We would urge you to make sure you are fully aware of the latest guidance and restrictions in place before you make any plans to travel.
