£801.80 donation to the Dementia Centre in honour of Frank Kelly

Birmingham Irish • March 28, 2024

The staff, board of trustees and volunteers at Birmingham Irish Association would like to express a huge thank you to the Kelly family for the heartfelt donation of £801.80 to our Dementia centre in memory of Frank Kelly.

Frank was attending our Dementia centre for many years and was a much loved member of our club. He had a special twinkle in his eye when he came in to us each day, he loved to sing & dance to all the well-known Irish songs and was even well known for singing many of the Beatles songs to the group as it was not a secret that was his favourite band.

‘The Boys in Green Band’ made Franks sessions very special as they knew how passionate about music he was so, they invited him to be an extra member of the band, playing the tambourine to the group when they came to visit us each month.

There wasn’t much that Frank wouldn’t throw himself into at the centre, all of the daily activities he really enjoyed and got stuck in and was a positive energy for others to be around (Frank had a competitive side which we all loved, he always had a huge smile on his face when we announced that he was the first to finish the quiz or was the winner of the bingo etc).

Throughout the years of us all getting to know Frank we soon learnt the things that were close to his heart the most important being how much family meant to him, he loved his Wife, Children and Grandchildren with all of his heart and was so lucky to have an incredible family surrounding him and supporting him always. Frank was a wonderful Gentleman and will be hugely missed in our centre by all the Staff and volunteers who adored him.

Thank you to the Kelly family for choosing Birmingham Irish Association for the kind donation in honour of Frank Kelly. The donation means so much to us all and is going to make a massive difference in our Dementia Centre’s, your thoughtfulness and generosity are much appreciated.

Frank Kelly will always be our Donegal Legend. ♥️
