Birmingham Irish is the Midlands' leading charity providing support and cultural services to the Irish community. We are based in the Heart of the Irish Quarter in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Birmingham Irish offers friendly, practical and impartial support, no matter what your circumstances may be. We can assist you by way of one to one support, free and confidential counsellors, and advice and guidance on funeral arrangements, finances and benefits.

  • Befriending Service

    Birmingham Irish provides a high quality volunteer home visiting service ideally for people who live alone. It is ideally suited to people over 60 who have little contact from family and friends.


    We take on volunteers only after thorough checks and references so you can be completely assured that they will be reliable and treat you with dignity and respect.

    Our volunteers provide important assistance with our programmes and office functions.


    In our front office they help with your passport applications, provide you with advice about services available, refer you to the appropriate member of staff depending on the problem you may have; be it benefits, legal, housing or health issues.
